Brisket - simplest recipe!

Here is an important tip before you try this sure fire hit; keep the vent- fan in your kitchen off or the neighbors will be knocking on your door for a self invite!


1 large brisket or double brisket (min. 6lbs)
1 L Heinz ketchup
1 packet of onion soup mix (approx. 4 tbsp.)


Mix the ketchup and onion soup mix

Slather the brisket (double works best) with the ketchup/ onion soup mixture on both sides.  Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours.

Cover with foil

Place into preheated oven at 285 for 7 hours.

Optional, after 3.5 hours, remove from oven and flip over and cover and cook for the remainder 3.5 hours.  Not a must. 

If you like a spicy punch to your brisket, alternate the ketchup with sweet chilli sauce.  This is great when your table is loaded with picky kids!
