Sweet Sliced Tongue

Bring out your favorite bottle of wine with this dish, we prefer a Merlot


1 Hartmans Signature pickled tongue
1 medium diced onion
2 table spoons oil
1 cup tomato sauce
2/3 cups brown sugar
1/3 cup raisins
3/4 cup water


Place tongue into a large pot of water to cover the tongue; bring to a boil, after 5 minutes pour off water.

Cover tongue with water again, cover the pot and boil gently for 3-4 hours until tender.

When tongue has cooled, peel it and slice thinly.

To Prepare Sauce: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add onion and sauté for 5-10 minutes until soft add remaining ingredients stir for 2-3 minutes until small bubbles form.

Serving options;

• Add sliced tongue to the sauce in skillet, heat over medium heat until hot, about 10 minutes.

• Prepare sauce, layer tongue slices in a 9x13 pan or dish pour sauce over it. Heat in oven, covered at 300f for 20-30 minutes until heated through.
